Document management
As we detailed in our page on the paperless office we have been through the process of converting to a paperless environment. Much is made of business' migrating to electronic document management when in reality the process is that of paper replacement.
In considering this step careful consideration must be given to what is the intended goal and how this is to be achieved.
We have assisted businesses for whom a paper replacement route has been preferred. The pre-existing paper records are scanned and then archived using a variety of document management techniques depending on the individual requirement of the company.
In other instances, businesses have preferred to convert all their systems to integrated electronic data management, which whilst inevitably relying on scanning documents as an integral part of the process, require a complete reengineering of how the business operates and delivers its service offering.
Which route you choose depends on a number of variables and requires resolution before embarking on the process. It is a lot easier to tailor a system at the outset rather than modifying it part of the way through!
